Roberto Burle Marx was a larger-than-life landscape architect who left a lasting legacy on his native Brazil, and in particular Rio de Janeiro, with his expressive designs and tropical planting. He is best known for the striking black and white mosaic walkways of Copacabana beach, completed in the 1970s.
I designed this 174-page hardback book, written by Elli Stuhler, celebrating Roberto’s colourful life with energetic layouts, bold typography, and beautiful photographs by Layla Motta. The book also folds out in the centre section, revealing epic drone shots of Copacabana along with Roberto’s stunning drawings.
