The New Normal

During the first Covid lockdown in spring 2020, government guidelines confined me to my home in London for several months, permitted a solitary walk or cycle once per day. This daily exploration of my immediate neighbourhood – Waltham Forest, Newham and Hackney – forced me to look at London in a new way. I became especially drawn to the minutiae of urban life in this corner of the city; quiet, banal scenes that somehow made me smile, gently illuminated by the golden glow of a warm evening.
